:iconlittle--heroes:

Here's my second character! The world needs more bald ladies~ <3

She is actually a recycled fan character of mind that I decided to revamp and make an OC. Pretty happy with the result!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Real name: Monifa (meaning: I am the Fortunate one)
Superhero name:
Obsidian
Age:
 22
Gender: Female
Height:
5’4”
Power(s):

    -      Enhanced Durability: can create dermal armor formed from her skeleton to protect her much more vulnerable skin, making her look like a living statue made of pure black stone (shown above). This black material is about 58% harder than a diamond.

    -      Bone Manipulation: can form parts of bones into various weapons such as sharp shards, claws, or bludgeoning tools has the ability to shoot dart like projections of the black substance accurately up to 300 ft.

    -      Enhanced Regeneration: Since her dermal armor and natural weaponry originate from her skeleton, regeneration in order to use this power is of the utmost importance. Her ability to feel self-inflicted pain has been dulled as well, since the used of her powers requires constant breaking of the skin.

Weaknesses:

    -      Deep Water: Due to the density of her mutated bones, she sinks in deep water

    -      Progressively Slower Regeneration: It takes energy to create weaponry, as well as maintain the dermal armor, so long, drawn out battles will result in slower and slower regeneration.

 Job:  Medical Student/Hair Dresser

Sexual orientation: Undecided, too focused on her career to worry about relationships anyway

Personality:

    -      Passionate:  Monifa has strong feelings towards certain subjects, such as the plight of children in her home country and their need of proper medical care. Once she’s set her heart on something , one can be sure she will give her all and possibly more

    -      Disciplined-Borderline Workaholic: “Work before play” is a principle that this woman lives by. She honestly can’t have fun if she hasn’t finished the bulk of what she set out to do that day, making her no fun during certain outings or forgoing such outings all together to get her work done

    -      Generous: Any chance she can, Monifa is always giving to those who are less fortunate. It’s not uncommon for her to invite complete strangers into her home and provide them with a clean bed and a warm meal. She gives to charities often, and is trying to start her own charity for the children in her home country on her college campus.

    -      Sharp-Tongued: Monifa doesn’t sugar coat things and she doesn’t take crap from people either. Once you make her mad, she will unleash holy womanly fury via her vocals and she has indeed made people cry in the past. It’s a trait she’s trying very hard to resolve, as it is one of her least favorite things about herself

    -      Bull Headed/Way too Independent: If she doesn’t want to do something, anyone will be hard pressed to get her to do it. She doesn’t like to be told to do anything really, and will get extremely hostile if she feels you’re trying to tell her what’s best for her even if you are right. However, once she’s realized she was in the wrong…you’ll probably have to coax an apology out of her.

History:

Monifa was born in a small village in Uganda to a poor, yet happy family who felt blessed to have the little girl in their lives. She wasn’t the strongest, healthiest baby, but she was loved all the same and taken care of to the parent’s best ability. Her village was often frequented by American missionaries to whom her parents brought her to be blessed after she was named when she turned one year. They felt she was fortunate to have survived this long, believing it was by the grace of God she was still with them.

After her second year, the unthinkable happened. While Monifa was outside playing, she was captured by strangers and taken to a witch doctor who planned sacrifice her in order to gain great riches. The little girl cried loudly as she was strapped down, far too weak to fight her captors. The witch doctor struck her once, the dull machete cutting into her skull, but not deep enough to actually damage her brain and kill her. But the pain was maddening, even more so when it was yanked out and raised once more to deliver the final blow. After that, Monifa doesn’t remember what happened aside from waking up in a hospital with white nurses surrounding her and her captors nowhere to be seen.

Though she was unable to understand at the time, she had been in a coma for almost four weeks. During that time, she had been brought to America by one of the American missionaries and placed in hospital care in the city of Littleville. According to her parents, she'd been found wandering near the village with a gaping hole in her scalp...no one is entirely sure just how she got free. After days of stabilizing her and repairing what they could, they simply had to wait and pray to see if she would wake up on her own. Apparently, while she was out, there had been a strange explosion in the city that…wasn’t the typical explosion…but that didn’t matter to much at the time..she was only two.

As soon as she was given a clean bill of health, she returned to her village where she was greeted with great fervor and a celebration! For the next few years, she lived a normal life among her family. She didn’t discover she’d been given powers until later on when she was around ten years old. While gathering sticks for a fire all by herself, she was attacked from behind by a  wild animal . It attempted to bite her arm but had it mouth skewered, and its brain impaled by a sharp, glossy black bony protrusion from her forearm. Shocked and all around frightened at first, she didn’t tell anyone about her new found ability, choosing to keep it a secret. Knowledge of such an ability would surely draw in more than just witch doctors into her village. After a few years, she became quite good with her powers, and the more she used it, the less pain she felt from the bones breaking through her skin.

When she was 18, she informed her family that she wanted to go to medical school, her time spent in Littleville still very fresh in her mind. After talking with the missionaries, who she considered her family as well, she was able to get enough funding to return to Littleville and go to college. While there, she discovered and registered with the Little Heroes League, hoping to gain even better control of her abilities.

Extra information:

    -      Because of her condition, she can’t swim

    -      Despite the density of her bones, she’s still pretty fast, but she is heavier than she looks

    -      People with light colored eyes fascinate her

    -      Loves working with other peoples hair, but hated dealing with her own…so she shaved it off

    -      On breaks, goes home to Uganda to help with children’s outreach programs to end child sacrifice and visit her family

    -      Has a hard time working with a team, but she can be tamed taught

    -      Works as a hair dresser on the side to earn money for every day living, since all her schooling is paid for

    -      Has a strong Ugandan accent

Roleplay Style: I prefer literate rp with at least five sentences through notes (primary method) or Skype (Though, my skype is acting dumb right now..not too sure when I'll be able to get back on it) . No one-liners please <3.  I can also do script, but I tend to get really really wordy.

Monifa is mine
